A chemical peel can help reduce the appearance of many skin irregularities, such as light acne scarring, wrinkles and irregular pigmentation from age spots and freckles. Pre-cancerous conditions, including keratoses (rough, thick, reddish growths), also respond well to our chemical peel treatments. Chemical peels help to increase the body’s healing process and new cell growth, which results in firmer, smoother and brighter skin.

At Loudoun Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, we offer several types of chemical peels. Some of our gentler procedures are our light peels. These are often used to remove superficial wrinkles and unevenness in the skin. Our medium and deep peels are usually reserved for more severe conditions.

After thoroughly cleansing the skin, our surgeons use a small applicator to administer the chemical solution to the treatment area. Any excess solution is then thoroughly removed from the skin. This application and removal procedure is repeated on other areas of the face that need treatment.

The amount of improvement you experience post treatment will vary depending on the initial condition of your skin. The more significant improvement of damaged skin, the more dramatic the results will be.
