Dr. Itani is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon who joined the Loudoun Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery team in 2023, transitioning from his former practice in Washington D.C. He is trained in and performs the full scope of oral surgery, including but not limited to dentoalveolar surgery, implant surgery, treatment of pathology, corrective jaw surgery, management of trauma, and the administration of anesthesia. He additionally continues to educate the next generation of oral surgeons and is an attending at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Dr. Itani grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. He received his bachelor’s degree in physiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. He then completed a master’s degree in biomedical science at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey prior to matriculating in dental school at the University of Maryland. During his time at Maryland Dental School, Dr. Itani’s surgical proficiencies were recognized by his faculty and Dr. Itani received the AAOMS award for “Outstanding Student in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.” He would then pursue specialty training within the field, and he was the only student from his class of 130 to successfully matriculate into residency training. He matched into his #1 choice residency program at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where he would spend his final year of training serving as Chief Resident.

Dr. Itani always practices under the guiding philosophy of “Treat the patient, not the problem.” Every treatment is a discussion, and Dr. Itani strives to educate his patients and empower them to make well-informed decisions regarding their own care. He feels that the oral surgery experience can be very positive when the surgeon prioritizes empathetic care, and he maintains a high level of empathy with every patient encounter he has. Dr. Itani is additionally committed to being a lifelong learner, and regularly attends continuing education seminars to offer his patients the “cutting edge” in surgical techniques and treatment paradigms.

Despite being a “Marylander” at heart, Dr. Itani has been recently awakened to the charms of Loudoun County by his wife, Jessica, who is a practicing orthodontist in the region. He and his wife live together in Arlington, VA, and they do their best to limit their “dental talk” while at home. Dr. Itani is a lifelong fan of DMV sports teams, most notably the Washington Commanders and Washington Capitals, and he takes great joy in attending games when he can. His other hobbies and interests include playing basketball, snowboarding, wine tasting, riding his Peloton, and traveling abroad.
